Shutdown of top national TV channels by Lanet cable provider in Severodonetsk

Since May 2021, residents of the city began to write in social networks about the disconnection of Ukrainian channels from subscribers of the Lanet provider. It should be noted that Lanet is one of the largest cable TV and internet providers in Severodonetsk. At the same time, there are some areas where, except for Lanet, none of the providers work. Lanet management and 4 major media holdings in the country did not agree to continue working. This led to the fact that media groups announced that they were breaking the contract to broadcast their channels from May 2021. And while managers are conducting official correspondence on cases involving the provision of information services in Severodonetsk, subscribers are already outraged and will terminate contracts. It should be noted that some members of the community do not see a problem in replacing the provider. However, there are also those who are outraged by the need to go to the company's office, terminate the contract, and then search for a new provider. Most of all, people of the older age category are outraged. It is not uncommon to think: "Why do we need Ukraine if we can't freely watch Ukrainian channels? They give us some American ones." Comments about installing satellite TV are also quite common. The comments say that "this will allow you to watch Russian channels." It is especially important to install satellite dishes in those homes where Lanet is the only provider, and people can not find an alternative. It is necessary to pay attention and consider the possibility of providing unhindered access to Ukrainian channels to residents of the city of Severodonetsk and in general to the Luhansk and Donetsk regions controlled by the Government of Ukraine. This issue is one of the priorities in the country's information security.
